πΊ Site Access
We are making improvements this year to ensure the site is as accessible as possible:
Flat, step-free site: Christmas Town is held in Bishop Aucklandβs market place, which is flat concrete with dropped kerbs and no steps.
No cable ramps: We have removed all ground-level cable ramp covers from public walkways to ensure smooth wheelchair and mobility aid access.
Open-air event: The event is mostly outdoors. It can get very cold in December, so please wrap up warm.
Accessibility Manager: A dedicated Accessibility Manager will be on site throughout the event to provide assistance.
Clear signage: Maps and clear signage will be displayed around the site to help you identify attractions and facilities.
π» Facilities & Toilets
Accessible toilets will be available and clearly marked on the site map.
Accessible car parking is available at North Bondgate Car Park, around 100 yards from the event site.
π Queues & Attractions
An accessible queuing system will be in place for attractions such as the Grotto, Rink and Tipis (details will be confirmed closer to the event).
Quiet Times: To support visitors with sensory needs, we will have quieter sessions with reduced noise and calmer atmospheres during:
Thursday & Friday: 4β5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10β11am
π Performances & Sensory Information
Some shows inside the Tipis may include the use of strobes/lasers. Please note there will be no prior announcements before these effects are used.
